Treading new ground in household sector innovation research: Scope, emergence, business implications, and diffusion

Individual consumers in the household sector increasingly develop products, services and processes, their discretionary time without payment. Household innovation is becoming a pervasive phenomenon, representing significant share of activity any economy. Such emerges from personal needs or self-rewards, distinct complementary to producer innovations motivated by commercial gains. In this introductory paper special issue on innovation, we take stock emerging research topic. We categorize into four areas: scope, emergence, implications for business, diffusion. conceptual basis introduce articles issue, show how each article contributes new insights. end offering agenda scholars interested salient phenomenon innovation.
